Our Math Teachers

Joe Hovorka

I was born and raised in Lincoln, and graduated from East in 1983, I received my bachelors degree from UNL in 1988. This is my ninth year teaching math at East. Currently I instruct AP Calculus and Precalculus, though I hear change is blowin' in the wind. . .

My wife Pam also teaches at East, in the PE department. We have two children, Jaret and Meegen, and a cat (Picasso). My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, with the 4th of July a close second.

Bret Koenig

I graduated from East in 1991. I am also married to an East High graduate (also 1991). We have four kids. My first year teaching at East was 1998. I taught at one other location for two years before that.

Some activities I enjoy are spending time with my kids, most any kind of sport but especially golf, most any outdoor activity and being involved with my Church. East is a great place to be because of the staff and students. GO SPARTANS!

Sixth of Seven Siblings all of which graduated from Lincoln East (1970, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1977, 1981, 1984); Attended Eastridge Elementary and Millard Lefler Junior High

Graduated UNL Teachers College 1986 Masters Education UNL, 2006

Worked at Sears Gateway 1979-2002

High School/American Legion Baseball Coach; High School Basketball Official

Despise Lawn work but enjoy working on the baseball diamond.
