LPS social workers offer many resources for parents including valuable new trauma information
Lincoln Public Schools social workers offer families help and support in the issues they face day to day in helping raise healthy, happy children.
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, social workers call your attention to their newest resource: Trauma Informed Parenting: http://home.lps.org/socialworkers/files/2012/11/trauma-informed-parenting.pdf
This publication recognizes that trauma affects at least one in four of LPS students, and that LPS has made a commitment for every school to be “trauma-informed” by educating staff, students and parents. The resource offers signs and symptoms, additional resources and other valuable advice and information.
LPS social workers also offer a wide variety of resources for parents – such as guidance in dealing with depression in children and adolescents, the importance of bedtime, school attendance issues, and many more. You can find parent resources from our social workers on the Parent Center webpage on the LPS website (lps.org) – or at this link: http://home.lps.org/socialworkers/
