Students at Lincoln East will once again be using Chromebooks to support their learning this year. Returning students will retrieve their returned Chromebook during the first week of the 2018-19 school year. Newly enrolled students, including incoming Freshmen will receive a Chromebook during READINESS DAYS on August 2nd and 3rd. This letter contains important updates and information regarding the Parental Acknowledgement (PA), the Student Responsible Use Agreement (RUA) and the Chromebook Assurance Program (CAP).

Parental Acknowledgement (PA)

A signed PA must be on file for each student in order for them to use approved LPS Instructional Technology Tools including Chromebooks.

RETURNING STUDENTS (students who attended Lincoln East during 2017-18):

Signatures from the 2017-18 school year will be honored if a PA is already on file. School administration will contact parents/guardians of students who are still in need of a signed PA.

NEW STUDENTS (Incoming Freshmen and newly enrolled students):

A PA form is included in this mailing. It must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned during Readiness Days. If misplaced, a copy to print at home can be found at http://lps.org/go/OVB5. Additional copies will also be available during Readiness Days.

Responsible Use Agreement (RUA)

Students are not required to sign a document to retrieve/receive a Chromebook, but should become familiar with the RUA found at lps.org/go/RUA. By signing into a Chromebook, students agree to the terms of the LPS Responsible Use Agreement.

Chromebook Assurance Program (CAP)

To protect students and families from full financial responsibility for device repairs and/or replacement, LPS offers an optional Chromebook Assurance Program. The premium for participation in the program is $20.00 annually ($10.00 for students who qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch Program). More details about the program, including a schedule of repairs and fines, can be found at lps.org/go/CAP.

While participation is optional, the premium will be reflected as a fee in Synergy ParentVUE/StudentVUE for ALL students enrolled at Lincoln East High School beginning on July 20th. If you choose to participate in the program, there are two options to make the premium payment:

  1. Online via Credit Card
    1. Log into ParentVUE (contact the Lincoln East main office for assistance)
    2. Click on the fees tab, then click on the link in the upper left that says “Click here to pay student fees electronically via SchoolPay”
    3. Make the payment via SchoolPay (directions can be found at lps.org/go/OWO1)
      1. If accessing SchoolPay for the first time, create a unique SchoolPay account
      2. Add the fee to the cart then proceed to checkout
  2. On-site via Cash or Check during Readiness Days (paying on-site may result in a longer wait)

If you choose not to participate in the program, the fee can be ignored.
